Insights & Perspectives

How did you get started in the solar sector, and what brought you to GSC?

Fate—and a little bit of luck—led me into renewable energy through my education, even though I originally aspired to be an aeronautical engineer. Looking back, I feel incredibly fortunate. My career began with a project mapping India's solar and wind potential using GIS, which opened doors to estimating energy yields, conducting technical due diligence for utility-scale wind-solar projects, and gaining hands-on experience in the wind sector. Now, it feels like perfect timing has brought me to GSC, where I get to focus on global solar markets and contribute to the industry’s growth. A huge thanks to the GSC team for the warm welcome!

What’s your role at GSC?

I develop market intelligence products for the Global Solar Council and its members, analyzing policies, market trends, and industry needs. I also collaborate with different teams to enhance GSC’s value proposition, generate additional revenue, and support business development. My role includes implementing strategies and grants, managing workstreams, and delivering reports and policy papers.

What are your priorities for GSC and its members in 2024?

Solar field, dusk, landscape, hills in background

My key focus is to meet members’ needs by creating valuable market intelligence products while also generating revenue to expand GSC’s ability to support the global solar industry.

What do you see as the greatest challenge or opportunity for the global solar sector today?

The biggest challenges—delays in grid construction/upgrades and access to low-cost financing—are also massive opportunities. Addressing these issues can unlock exponential growth in solar markets worldwide.

What’s one solar myth you wish you could bust once and for all?

That solar projects harm communities or wildlife. Misinformation spreads easily, but the truth is that solutions exist for every challenge. Safety standards should always be implemented responsibly, regardless of the industry.

What initiative at GSC has you most excited right now?

The four workstreams on grids, finance, and other key areas, along with the Solar Stewardship Initiative, are especially exciting. They have the potential to drive real impact in the global solar industry!

At Global Solar Council, our team is the driving force behind a cleaner, solar-powered future. Stay tuned to meet more inspiring professionals driving the future of solar!
